twinkle toes

i think we all know i'm not one to shy away from a fabulous and fun pair of heels but there are days when my feet just need a little break! and thus, i bring out the statement flat. a girl's trusty sidekick for being comfy yet still sparkly for any occasion. while organizing my shoes recently, i stumbled back upon this pair of that i bought about 2/3 years ago and completely forgot about! thankfully this striped dress paired so perfectly with them and gave me an excuse to break them back out!

the hamptons // give me summer in the hamptons

i am anything but subtle when it comes to my love for the hamptons. i have been making the journey out east on my days off whenever i can for the last two years and i cannot believe another summer season is officially over! although, i have to admit, i am far from sad because i won't have to fight anyone for a seat on the train and it won't take me 5 hours to get home if i decide to drive...at least until next summer. but even with all of the hurdles to get out there during peak season, there is nothing like summer in the hamptons.

off duty

when living in such a big and busy city like new york, it is easy to get lost in the madness. since moving to the city over two years ago (wow, how time has flown!), i never quite mastered "big city living." coming to new york right after college, i never realized how difficult balancing work, blogging, being social, exercise, and my overall personal life would be and the sporadic schedule of my first post-college job didn't help. after a career switch about a year ago, i started to get back into a routine again. but of course, the holidays hit and my newborn routine quickly took a backseat. holidays in retail are anything but relaxing and the last thing i wanted to do when leaving work was talk to more people or even work out. so i found myself passing on events, soulcycle classes, and happy hours with friends just to get an extra hour of sleep. instead of bringing my lunch to work, i defaulted to ordering seamless from less than stellar options and would repeat the cycle when i got home at night. i assumed my schedule would reset itself when the holidays were over but, of course, it didn't and a few months ago, the need and desire for a change slapped me right across the face. hard.

the great divide

i love nordstrom as much as the next person. they always have an amazing variety of brands at all price points and of course, their return policy is unlike any other. but i would be perfectly happy if i never had to see another email about the nordstrom anniversary sale. and add that to the countless bloggers and overall general public posting about the sale, i felt like i was being pulled in a million different directions before the sale even began. needless to say, this is not my favorite time of the year. but let's be honest; the reason bloggers and influencers post so excessively about the annual event is because, as jacey so simply put it, it generates a good chunk of income through our affiliate links! so this year, i was torn: to post, or not to post? and i think we all know by now that the answer to that question for me was not to post.

a piece of paris

there will always be a special place in my heart for paris. when i was in college, there was no question in my mind as to where i would study abroad and inevitably ended up at sciences po for my fall semester junior year. i had visited paris a few times prior to the move when i was in both middle and high school and i had the most magical of times. basically those experiences set the bar quite high for my time abroad. there still are some pre-blogging instagrams of mine floating around my feed but one of my favorite memories of my study abroad (and most photographed) were my strolls back from class through the luxembourg gardens with my little green ladurée bag: filled with nothing but sugary goodness!

a step in the stripe direction

it's no secret that i'm mildly obsessed with stripes...so there was no surprise when i instantly fell in love with this flutter sleeved dress! oh, and pippa middleton kind of liked it too so no big deal. i have worn this dress on countless occasions (most of them being work) and the silhouette makes it perfect for anything life throws at you! i hope everyone has an amazing monday and an even better week ahead!

taking shape

one thing people may not know about me is that i am a total math nerd - i even majored in finance in college! but one of my favorite segments of my math progression was geometry. now don't get me wrong, i will always have a special place in my heart for a good floral pattern but there is just something about a bold geometric print that makes me stop and stare! of course i needed to pair this statement skirt with my classic stripe tee (that i've had for ages) to add that extra pop! and as i was beginning this post, i saw jenn wear this same skirt three different ways. check out her post here! but we talk about that gingham top with it!? #stunning!

patriotism to the max

there is no color combo more patriotic than red, white, and blue (obviously). so with the fourth of july right around the corner, i'm getting a head start on all of my patriotic apparel! having red hair, i have always defaulted to wearing something blue and white and a hint of red. this outfit was no exception to my all-american uniform. and of course, who can forget these fabulous tassel earrings to top it all off!? now i just can't wait for the fireworks!

pink lady

it probably doesn't come as a surprise that filling your bag with flowers is not the most practical idea...but it is definitely the cutest accessory to an entirely pink outfit! if i had it my way, i would probably wear pink all day, every day and i got so excited when i saw this skirt at j.crew because i knew i could pair it with so many different things. adding this perfectly matched striped shirt into the mix and my transformation to a pink lady was complete!

mykonos // going places

our time in greece was quickly coming to an end and we couldn't believe we were on our last full day! not only did we not spend enough time in mykonos, i felt like i wanted to explore even more of the islands...i was just getting started!! but we came to terms with our the end of the trip and checked off the last few things on our to-do list! one of those things was riding an atv. i'm sorry...how cool are they! i definitely didn't feel cool enough driving one but andrea and i rocked our newest accessory with ease: and by ease, i mean practicing for roughly 5 hours before really being comfortable. this seemed to be the mode of transportation everyone resorted to and we obviously needed to do so to blend in.

mykonos // an unexpected stop

when originally planning our trip, we initially just planned to visit santorini and weren't even going to consider going to another island. but after a little bit of research, we concluded that we needed to visit mykonos as well. andrea and i didn't think anything could top santorini and we, truthfully, we had very low expectations for mykonos. once we hopped off the ferry from santorini and checked into our hotel, we knew we were in for a fun couple of days! we immediately dropped our bags off in our (stunning) room and headed right into town for an afternoon of exploration.

santorini // float your boat

our time in santorini was almost up, but one thing that was still on our bucket list was to take a cruise around the island to watch the sunset. we were so lucky to work with spiridakos and joined one of their semi-private cruises complete with food and drinks. earlier that day, the waters were so rocky that they had to cancel their afternoon excursion but thankfully it was safe enough for us by sunset! we had a scheduled pickup at 3:30pm from our hotel to head down to the marina so andrea and i decided to have a leisurely lunch by the pool. what started out as relaxing, quickly turned into a frantic race to get ready because the car had arrived at 2:30!

santorini // intentionally wandering

it was another 5am wake-up call for our second morning in santorini and it was this day that i thought andrea was going to throw the alarm against the wall...but it was a good thing she didn't! one of the reasons that this morning was my favorite in santorini wasn't because i was wearing this ahhmazing skirt but because i felt like we had our bearings of the city. our first day we were simply exploring oia and getting lost in the many streets. but come day two, we were "experts." we were able to pinpoint the exact places we wanted to venture to first and that was a monumental stress-reliever.

sailor stripes

spring is here! and although the greenery has not quite come out, i couldn't help but dress like it already has. but i have to say, the weather this weekend was simply picture perfect, and i have never been so excited for spring to peak! i'm gearing up with these extra comfy sailor pants in the event that someone has an extra boat i can just borrow.

stripe a pose

say hello to trench coat weather! although i have officially broken out my lighter-weighted jackets, they still need some layering for those chilly spring morning and evenings. this striped turtleneck is the perfect pairing for almost all of my spring coats and i feel like i'm wearing a sweatshirt all day! ...without looking like i'm wearing one...because apparently sweatshirts aren't "office appropriate"

jailbird

we had quite the blizzard a few weeks ago on the east coast, which put a little damper on my plans to visit the cherry blossoms in washington, dc. the blossoms were covered in a layer of ice causing a significant delay the peak days. but my train was booked and my friends were awaiting my arrival so there was no way i was about to reschedule! i went to plan b and simply visited some of my favorite locations in dc working with the incredibly talented laura metzler!
